Video: Maury Microwave High Power Load Pull With X-Parameters Demo
In this video from IMS2010, Gary Simpson from Maury Microwave combines the company's world-class mechanical impedance tuners with Agilent's PNA-X with Nonlinear VNA (NVNA) to extract high power X-Parameter models over a wide impedance range. The operator of the combined load pull NVNA system can select an impedance range of interest, possibly over the entire Smith chart, with stimulus variables including impedance, power drive, bias, and frequency. The X-Parameter model can then be used as a circuit element in a non-linear analysis with great confidence, since it is based on measurements at the actual operating conditions of the device. The resulting model is ideal for advanced amplifier design with multiple amplification stages, including Doherty and multi-stage amplifiers. The model can also be used to analyze time-domain current and voltage waveforms for advanced class-E/F amplifier design.
