Ka-Band Target Tracking Radar Sensor
By Liang Han, PhD., Ducommun Technologies, Inc
Tracking radar is different from search radar in that it automatically keeps its beam axis pointed towards a specific target. A common technique used in tracking radar is monopulse, or simultaneous lobe comparison. This application note provides an over the monopulse principle, and an improved technique for the application of target tracking systems. The technique uses a Ka-band sensor module developed with separated T/R antennas and direct I-Q demodulate receivers.
